View Video Modern Street Car Four mile project approved — April 23, 2008

A stretch of track is already down for the proposed modern street car in Tucson. The four-mile project was approved by residents as part of the Regional Transportation Authority vote in 2006. It will run from UMC to the UA, along 4th Avenue, using the new underpass, through downtown and west of I-10 in the Menlo neighborhood.

The overall project is slated be completed in about three years at a cost of about $145 million and procuring funding is underway. We talk the Tucson DOT about this project as well as the 4th Avenue underpass which should be completed next year.
