The Chinese in American films — April 17, 2008
The Arizona International Film Festival runs 10 days and features more than 80 films from 17 different countries.
HOLLYWOOD CHINESE, winner of the Taipei Golden Horse for Best Documentary, and a popular entry on the independent film circuit will open the festival with a special screening at the fox. Chinese Hollywood is a film that explores a little known chapter of cinema; the Chinese in American feature films.
However, for Arthur Dong, the filmmaker who has spent many years studying the topic, the intent of the film is not to be an academic document, one that might serve a purpose in a film history class, but rather to entertain an audience.
